South Jersey Spotlight on Jackie Pantaliano of ImPRessions, LLC

If your business yearns for public relations love, Jackie Pantaliano of ImPRessions, LLC is your (Morton Salt) "rainmaker!"
If your business yearns for public relations love, Jackie Pantaliano of ImPRessions, LLC is your (Morton Salt) “rainmaker!”

The story of how I met Jackie Pantaliano of ImPRessions, LLC (public relations) involves a female condition, a car ride, and Girlfriendz Magazine. My friend Tobi Schwartz-Cassell was kind enough to gift me with a ticket for Menopause – The Musical a few years ago. But the show wasn’t running in Philadelphia – I was destined for a road trip to the Dupont Theatre in Wilmington, Delaware.

As I climbed into the back seat of someone’s car, I met my road trip companion, a vivacious gal named Jackie. We chatted the whole way to Wilmington before settling in for the show. Who knew that hot flashes and mood swings could be so delightful?!?

By All Writes: Why did you decide to start ImPRessions, LLC (public relations and publicity)? When did you found/start it?

Jackie Pantaliano: I founded ImPRessions in 1996 out of my Parsippany (New Jersey) home, purely for family and flexibility reasons. I was traveling a good distance to my job as PR Director for a national printing industry trade association and schlepping my very young son with me for local babysitting services.

Interestingly, while my decision was not for entrepreneurial reasons, and I loved the extra time with my son, I also found I loved being a business owner and have never looked back. I continued my home-based business after relocating to South Jersey in 2002.

BAW: What public relations and publicity services do you offer your current and potential clients?

JP: First I come up with the appropriate news hook for a client. Then I obtain media coverage through hard-hitting, compelling pitch letters requesting media interviews for features in newspapers, magazines, trade journals, or appearances on TV, radio, and in blogs. I also coach my clients prior to all interviews. Additionally, I write press releases announcing a client’s shorter news items (i.e., a charitable involvement, a new service/product, an acquisition, etc.).

Another service that many of my clients consider a “secret weapon” is finding them award opportunities and then submitting nominations on their behalf. I’m proud to say I have a near-perfect track record of earning them finalist or winner status, which we then publicize further. I also craft social media posts regarding my clients and their feature articles. A list of all ImPRessions, LLC services can be found on my website.

BAW: Who makes a good client for you?

JP: My ideal client is a small (for-profit or non-profit) organization ($1 to $5 million in annual revenue, ideally) in virtually any industry offering a unique product, service, background, or way of doing business that can benefit from positive media coverage. Companies that become monthly retainer clients for a year or longer enable a steady flow of PR and gain the greatest cumulative results.

But I also work quite well with professionals and businesses with shorter-term project or hourly PR needs. By hiring a boutique agency like mine, my clients benefit from working with a high-level executive as their key contact at a competitive rate (when compared with urban/city agency pricing).

BAW: What is your ultimate “happy moment” when working with your clients?

JP: Whenever we garner positive press coverage, and whenever that coverage leads to client sales or new business, I’m a pleased PR professional. The excitement never gets old, even after so many years! My ultimate “happy moment” is when my clients express their own happiness with what I’ve done for them. I’m a major “people pleaser!”

BAW: If you could relocate your public relations and publicity firm to anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

JP: I’m not yet as well traveled as I’d like. If I were, I’m sure I’d have a long “wish list,” including Italy, Greece, and Hawaii. Based on actual experience, however, I’d perhaps consider transplanting ImPRressions to sunny southern California. My sister lives there, and I absolutely love the weather there: low humidity, cool nights, average mid-70s daily temperatures, and hardly any rain.

BAW: What is your favorite book (or who is your favorite author) to read and why? Please share generously!

JP: I’m a voracious reader, so it’s very tough to choose only one book or author. As an English major in college, I was a big Shakespeare fan. Interestingly, though, the book I most frequently cite as my favorite, Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, actually bypassed me in college. I finally read it a few years ago on my own and was blown away.

Regarding more contemporary offerings, Room, by Emma Donoghue, is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. I also love everything by Elizabeth Berg, Wally Lamb, Anna Quindlen, and Anne Tyler. A recent nonfiction book I greatly enjoyed was Inner Guidance and the Four Spiritual Gifts by Howard Wimer. Reading is less about action and more about insight for me…

  1. What a fabulous profile on Jackie P! And it’s not at all because of your generous mention of me and Girlfriendz Magazine, Lori. It’s because you and Jackie are just that good. I am pleased to add to Jackie’s profile that she is a writer for Girlfriendz! How lucky is that for me and my readers? Pretty darned lucky. :)

    • Hi Tobi,

Thanks for the compliment – it’s good to be “just that good!” Jackie’s guest blog post is receiving a lot of social media love, so all the better. Good luck with your GMZ deadline this week…

      Regards,
      Lori
