With Tonya Moken of TLM Productions behind the camera or video recorder, you’ll score (or should I say shoot) your visual best!

Tonya Moken of TLM Productions is an inventive video-and-photography entrepreneur. I met her in April 2014 during a fabulous PowerMatch networking session, compliments of the ever-gracious Sara Rosenberg.

Posting teaser videos to your business website and creating your own YouTube channel are very matter-of-fact online strategies these days. But working with a professional such as Tonya Moken makes all the difference between a good video and a persuasive, lead-generating video.

Additionally, TLM Productions offers a wide range of photography services for both business and personal purposes.

Here, I’ll let Tonya explain it all…

By All Writes: Why did you decide to start TLM Productions? When did you found/start it?

Tonya Moken: I wanted to create a company that could serve many needs, whether for professional or personal purposes. I quickly saw a growing demand by small-business owners and individual professionals alike for video production.

Video has always been a lifetime hobby and passion of mine. I wanted to get started right away, even though I was still in college.

I created TLM Productions, LLC in August 2013, the last month of summer before my senior year and final semester.

BAW: What specific video/videography and photography services do you offer your current and potential clients?

TM: Our motto at TLM Productions is: “If you can dream it, we can create it.” Since clients’ requirements vary, we offer a diverse range of visual services. On the videography side, we cater to business owners and professionals who need:

  • Video business cards
  • Commercials
  • Promotional videos
  • Sports highlights reels
  • Music videos

(Currently, more business owners than consumers request our music-video services.)

When it comes to photography, we do it all, both business and personal. Our photography projects include the typical corporate conferences, headshot parties, networking events, and everything in between.

One specialty that’s catching fire right now is newborn portraits. This is a fantastic way to celebrate the start (or growth) of your family and welcome your little bundle of joy (not your business–your baby!) into the world.

Our newborn portraits are powerfully evocative keepsakes that provide “bragging rights” to both parents and grandparents.

BAW: Who makes a good client for you?

TM: Since we offer a variety of visual services, what constitutes a good client for us depends on the person’s or company’s needs. On the photography side of TLM Productions, we love working with people who want to capture not just the big moments in life, but also the little everyday ones.

On the video side, we tend to attract business owners and professionals looking for a new way to spread the word that they are available and ready to serve their clients.

These same people should be open to the possibilities of YouTube. After all, it is a very popular social-media platform that’s considered the second-most used search engine online.

BAW: What is your ultimate “happy moment” when working with your clients?

TM: I love the opportunity to work with my clients at any given moment during a project, learning and understanding their thought processes regarding why they want something. I especially enjoy seeing a client’s face light up with enthusiasm when discussing a video or photography project.

However, I must say that my ultimate “happy moment” occurs when seeing the look on clients’ faces as I show them the final product. That smile makes the sides of their eyes crinkle. And sometimes, they even do a little “happy dance” of their own, they’re so excited!

BAW: If you could relocate TLM Productions to anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

TM: To be honest with you, I don’t really know. I like being close to a city–I love people-watching and getting a different kind of feel in my line of work. But I also love being in nature. I can go hiking and just let the world fade away when I walk among the trees and wildflowers.

I guess I will say Nashville, Tennessee, since I would be able to enjoy the best of both worlds there (i.e., city and nature). Another reason I’d consider relocating TLM Productions to Nashville is my love of music, especially country music. You know, Nashville is called Music City; it’s also the longtime home of the Grand Ole Opry.

BAW: What are your favorite books (or who are your favorite authors) to read and why? Please share generously!

TM: I really enjoyed reading Suzanne Collins’s The Hunger Games trilogy and Veronica Roth’s Divergent series. I usually look for books that have a strong, independent female protagonist. This helps me relate to and genuinely feel like I am the main character (or at least a part of the story).

I’m currently reading The Fault in Our Stars by the phenomenal John Green.
