South Jersey Spotlight: Brad Tornberg, E3 Consulting Partners LLC

Brad Tornberg of E3 Consulting Partners will train your business body to run longer distances and breathe better!
Brad Tornberg of E3 Consulting Partners will train your business body to run longer distances and breathe better!

I’ve known Brad Tornberg of E3 Consulting Partners for quite some time now. However, our professional relationship didn’t deepen until a random reconnection at a summer 2012 South Jersey Business Alliance networking event. (This necessitates a grateful hat-tip to Scott Jones of Jones & Associates Wealth Management in Mt. Laurel, NJ.)

And because of that fateful encounter, Brad became a client. But that’s not why I invited Brad to be this month’s South Jersey Spotlight guest. No, it goes deeper than that.

As a hybrid marketing-project management-technology consultant, Brad has a unique “macro” perspective regarding why businesses succeed or fail. Such far-reaching wisdom is never gained quickly. You may know business consultants who refer to themselves as versatile troubleshooters, but Brad Tornberg of E3 Consulting Partners is the real deal:

By All Writes: Why did you decide to start E3 Consulting Partners? When did you found/start it?

Brad Tornberg: E3 Consulting Partners originally started as Sofsearch Corporation (in 1986). It was a company designed to help business owners select the business software ideally suited to their productivity/processing needs.

But over the years, I noticed a need in the marketplace for professionals who understood both business and technology, and could work well with business owners, principals, and C-level executives. These leaders needed help implementing combination business-technology solutions to improve sales revenue and reduce operational expenses.

Eventually, I decided to “color outside the (software) lines”–I reformulated my business as E3 Consulting Partners in 2005.

BAW: What specific project management, workflow process, and technology-related consulting services do you offer your current and potential clients?

BT: Focusing on business improvement is what I do best for my clients. I also offer a variety of workshops to teach business owners and executives how to:

  • increase lead generation and sales
  • enhance marketing campaigns
  • improve external and internal operational strategies through technology
  • etc.

We will also design a custom workshop to meet your specific business needs. (Explore the various workshops and consultative services we provide via our relaunched website.)

Regardless of a client’s specific challenges, my consultative process typically begins with an on-site assessment that transitions into a remediation plan.

Our newest workshop series is Business Fitness, which came about as a result of my recently published book, The Business Fitness Revolution. The book helps business owners focus on maximum, 100% health, which means all of the company’s “bodily systems” are running as efficiently as possible.

For example: I equate the human circulatory system to financial and transactional “flow” issues, the cardiovascular system to a company’s soul and philanthropic footprint, and so on. For optimal business health, it’s necessary to proactively nurture and maintain all the systems that comprise your TOTAL business body!

BAW: Who makes a good client for you?

BT: My ideal client is a business owner, principal, or C-level/senior executive who wants to improve his/her company’s business development or business-operations strategy. The most critical issues my clients face are what I identify in my book as the PPT triangle: People, Process(es), and Technology.

BAW: What is your ultimate “happy moment” when working with your clients?

BT: That moment occurs when the problem/pain a client has been struggling with is resolved and he or she asks the magical question: “Since you seem to understand so many different parts of my business, can you also help me with…”

At that point, it’s clear this client understands and appreciates the value E3 Consulting Partners brings to the company. I then know we have a long-term client who not only likes us but TRUSTS us!

BAW: If you could relocate E3 Consulting Partners to anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

BT: If you don’t mind, I’m going to take a “fantasy versus reality” approach to this question.

Having an apartment overlooking Italy’s breathtaking Amalfi Coast would be beyond inspirational for me. I could look out the window (and breathe deeply) when creating additional business development and business-operations programs for the E3 brand. Yes, that was the fantasy relocation (in my just as fantastical parallel universe).

A more realistic relocation for E3 Consulting Partners would be somewhere in South Florida. The year-round warmth would improve my productivity (no doubt!).

Additionally, life is a little less formal in the southern part of the Sunshine State, which dovetails nicely with the way I like to run my Business Fitness workshops. And, oh yes–I would make attendees’ brains “sweat” from their increased thinking power and clarity!

BAW: What are your favorite books (or who are your favorite authors) to read and why?

BT: To satisfy my business-reading needs, I turn to:

John Jantsch’s Duct Tape Marketing

Michael Gerber’s The E-Myth

Dale Carnegie (How to Win Friends and Influence People is an all-purpose road map that never goes out of style.)

Napoleon Hill, Seth Godin, Guy Kawasaki, and Jeffrey Gitomer

To satisfy my personal-reading needs, I consume biographies on a regular basis. This is because I love learning how others attained their success and impacted the world. Walt Disney (Uncle Walt!) is a particular touchstone for me. From Disney to Abraham Lincoln, I am constantly relearning history through the mind-set of a business entrepreneur.

Are you drained by the unhealthy disconnect within your company between your people, processes, and technology? Are you in search of a business “doctor” who can look at your organization “from both sides, now” and put it back on the path to robust health and wellness?

I encourage you to read Brad’s road map to good business health, The Business Fitness Revolution, but it’s no replacement for working with him directly!

To learn more about whipping your company (and while you’re at it, your physical self) into shape, contact Brad either by phone (732-735-6429) or by e-mail.  You can also connect online with Brad Tornberg of E3 Consulting Partners via his Google+, Facebook, Twitter and/or LinkedIn accounts.
