I think this quote by Harry Allcroft of PuroClean Emergency Recovery Services says it all…

If ever I’m in the midst of property-damage chaos, I’ll rely on Harry Allcroft of PuroClean Emergency Recovery Services to clean up the mess. No doubt, he’ll also help calm my jangled nerves. I met Harry years ago at a Marlton Business Association luncheon. Fortunately, I’ve not yet needed to call him in a panic (and in particular, sometime between midnight and breakfast).

Along the way, through a serendipitous process, I forged an online friendship with Kristine Allcroft, Harry’s talented inbound marketing specialist. Let’s just say that Kristine and I follow each other’s digital droppings, especially on Twitter and LinkedIn…

Because October is Fire Prevention Month, it’s an opportune time to feature Puroclean Emergency Recovery Services as a guest on the By All Writes blog. Harry and his expert crew of field technicians truly understand the suffering, damage and devastation a fire creates, both for families and business owners.

When you least expect to need his company’s services, Harry Allcroft of PuroClean will be there for you:

By All Writes LLC: Why did you decide to invest in a PuroClean franchise? When did you start/acquire it?

Harry Allcroft: After several years working in the construction industry as a project manager and estimator, I got tired of the job insecurity. I chose to purchase the PuroClean Emergency Recovery Services franchise (in 2007) as a way to stabilize my future.

BAW: What specific property-damage services do you offer your valued residential and commercial customers?

HA: Our company exists to relieve suffering. We help customers with all manner of property-damage issues:

  • Fire and smoke damage restoration
  • Water damage mitigation
  • Storm and flood damage cleanup
  • Mold removal and remediation
  • Biohazard cleanup, which includes sewerage cleanup
  • Hoarding cleanup
  • Unattended-death-scene cleanup

BAW: Who makes a good customer for you?

HA: The best customers for us are people who know they need help. They also want reliable, timely service from a provider they can trust to do the job right. This means we don’t rush through a cleanup or ignore the small details; cutting corners is unacceptable.

BAW: What is your ultimate “happy moment” when working with your customers?

HA: At the end of every job, we want our customers to perceive and feel that we’ve solved their problem. The gratitude we receive from our customers when their property–whether it’s a private residence or a commercial building–is restored and “back in business” is the happiest moment!

BAW: If you could relocate PuroClean Emergency Recovery Services to anywhere in the world, where would you go, and why?

HA: We could relocate our PuroClean franchise to anywhere there are homes and/or businesses needing cleanup assistance due to property damage. But there’s no better place to do that than right here where we are–the Greater Philadelphia and South Jersey region.

BAW: What are your favorite books (or who are your favorite authors) to read, and why? Please share generously!

HA: As an avid reader, I appreciate this question. I have several favorites to share with your readership:

Bill Bryson’s At Home: A Short History of Private Life is a room-by-room tour of his home. Bryson takes each room and makes it a factual amble through history. With the author’s narrative as your guide, you discover how each room came to be one of the required, taken-for-granted spaces that exist in our homes today.

I think At Home is an entertaining and educational read. It illuminates the “whys” and “hows” that have shaped the buildings containing our private lives–the places we call “home.”

The Initiate Brother Duology by Sean Russell is a fantastic fantasy novel of far-reaching (and philosophical) proportions. This fabulous book captures the spirit of the Orient. You’ll be transported to the kingdom of Wa, a fictional place that blends historically accurate bits and pieces of ancient Japanese and Chinese cultures.

A well-researched and thoroughly annotated text, Doris Kearns Goodwin’s Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln is a delight to read. I love how Goodwin tells the story of President Lincoln’s rise to greatness. He was a genius at managing his political milieu!

By reading the book, you gain insight into Lincoln’s ability to outmaneuver his rivals with his dynamic personality. It’s the story of how his rivals came to greatly appreciate him as the right man in the right place at the right time. I highly recommend it.

In recognition of Fire Prevention Month, Harry sent me a few helpful resources to ensure y’all have the safest October (and fall season) possible.
