South Jersey Spotlight on Joan Nowak of Hybrid Business Advisors

If this is how you feel about your business, you need to speak with Joan Nowak ASAP!
If this is how you feel about your business, you need to speak with Joan Nowak ASAP!

Once upon a time at a southern New Jersey networking event, I met a dynamo business coach obsessed with systems and efficiency named Joan Nowak. Her ability to give her clients the “tough love” they need is so impressive that I affectionately refer to Joan as ‘Sarge’. (With all due respect. As the most business-like term of endearment as possible. Ma’am, yes Ma’am!)

By All Writes: Why did you decide to start Hybrid Business Advisors? When did you found/start it?

Joan Nowak: On my 15+ year journey through corporate America, I had the opportunity to work with many franchisees and small business owners. By helping these entrepreneurs overcome their struggles and grow their businesses, I came to understand that positive changes in a small business can be life-altering for the business owner. This stayed with me and fueled my passion for learning, which inspired me to start my own business coaching practice in 2004.

BAW: What services do you offer your current and potential clients?

JN: Using my Hybrid Coaching System, I offer a variety of business coaching programs and consulting services to help business owners address three key challenges: money, time, and control. With a focus on results and small business needs, I keep the strategies simple, practical, and easy to execute. I also ensure my clients are able to achieve measurable results. My services are reasonably priced, so the coaching pays for itself quickly!

BAW: Who makes a good client for you?

JN: While industries and size are quite diverse, my ideal clients are small business owners and professionals who value results and relationships. They should be open to new ideas, believe in themselves, and be committed to personal development, even when this tests their comfort zone boundaries. People who are passionate about both their business and personal success will enjoy working with me!

BAW: What is your ultimate “happy moment” when working with your clients?

JN: For me, it’s all about seeing the results of our combined efforts – more time, money, or control. When I witness the concrete impact of my coaching methods on my clients, I know I’m serving them well. Such measurable results that make my clients ecstatic include: a better lifestyle, more time for family or hobbies, less stress, and ultimately, a stronger sense of confidence and the realization that there are no limits.

BAW: If you could relocate your business coaching practice to anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

JN: After seven moves (while worshiping at the corporate business world’s altar), I actually relocated back to New Jersey to start my consultancy. It was time to be near my family and friends – I grew up here and left in 1985! Hmm, this is an interesting question. If family and other considerations weren’t in play (but that’s not likely to happen), I would take my business with me to Hawaii and endure the daily 80-degree weather…

BAW: What is your favorite book (or who is your favorite author) to read and why? Please share generously!

JN: I love to read, and I really enjoy mixing it up. I devour business and personal development books for learning/growth and rely on mysteries for pleasure! Two of my business favorites are The Success Principles by Jack Canfield and 9 Lies That Are Holding Your Business Back by Steve Chandler and Sam Beckford. When it comes to reading for fun, nothing beats a James Patterson book.
