South Jersey Spotlight: the Million Dollar Party Girl

Get your business growing and glowing with Lynn Bardowski, Million Dollar Party Girl!

I remember meeting Lynn Bardowski, aka the Million Dollar Party Girl, like it was just last year. That’s because it WAS last year – Lynn was a keynote speaker during the Interconnection For Women’s Healthy Bodies, Healthy Business Expo (at Virtua’s Health & Wellness Center in Washington Township, NJ).

Our paths have continued to cross since then; I knew I needed to learn more about Lynn’s “visionista” revolution. Prepare to “get your glow on” with the Million Dollar Party Girl:

By All Writes: Why did you decide to start Million Dollar Party Girl? When did you found/start it?

Lynn Bardowski: Like many women, approaching 50 was a time of reflection for me. I thought, “What will my legacy be before I leave this planet?” To change things up, I added the word “gazillion” to my vision – to empower a gazillion women to discover their glow. Almost immediately, the idea to write a book popped into my head.

Little did I know it would also be the birth of the Million Dollar Party Girl (MDPG) concept, which I created at an author/speaker seminar I attended soon afterward in 2011. I went home and hired Lynda Hinkle’s law firm to trademark the MDPG brand. I also retained a professional design company in New York City, Sapling Creative, Inc., to create my logo. I’m a “go big or go home” kind of girl, and it’s been a pretty fun ride ever since.

BAW: What consultative/mentoring and other services do you offer your current and potential clients?

LB: Clients hire me for speaking gigs, one-on-one consulting, and online classes via download. Last year I established my own university of higher learning: Visionista University. Entrepreneurs can attend online classes and get their V.U. MBA (as in More Biz Attraction). It’s completely non-accredited, but Visionista University is loaded with content (and just fun to say).

All we need now is a football team and a fight song. Gee, maybe Katy Perry’s song, “Roar,” is available. I also offer free expertise via the MDPG blog and my radio show on WTER. My book (available for purchase on Amazon) is a great catalyst for getting your creative juices flowing!

BAW: Who makes a good client for you?

LB: My clients all have one thing in common: they want to connect their passion and power. This could be a woman who needs help building a direct sales/ small business, to a conference planner looking for a unique motivational speaker, to a customer who lights a candle to escape from a stressful day. It sounds a little corny, but it’s all about the glow.

BAW: What is your ultimate “happy moment” when working with your clients?

LB: Any time spent empowering women to be, have, or do more is a happy moment for me. It’s what gets me out of bed each day. There’s joy and gratitude for me in the little things, even a book review.

This one was posted on Amazon just recently: “I swear she was in my head. I am going to be making the transition from working for someone else to working for myself… I plan on reading this book over and over! Light a candle tonight :)” It’s crazy to think my story can have that kind of impact on someone’s life.

BAW: If you could relocate your Million Dollar Party Girl empire (!) to anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

LB: After this particular winter, I would relocate to somewhere warm and tropical! I grew up at the beach and love anyplace with sand, water, and sunny skies. My husband and I had a beach house in Ocean City, NJ, when the kids were younger, but we sold it once they entered their teen years.

The double whammy of my two daughters’ part-time jobs and social lives elicited many complaints from them about having to go “down the shore.” I reminisce and wonder – what were we thinking, listening to teenagers?

BAW: What are your favorite books (or who are your favorite authors) to read and why? Please share generously!

LB: Ah, books are like old friends – I get very attached to them. They’re part of my home’s decor, piled up on tables and shelves (but in a good way, not like one of those hoarder reality shows). I love stories that combine history with strong female characters. Little Women, The Red Tent, Angela’s Ashes, Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, and Reading Lolita in Tehran are some of my favorites.

Cheryl Strayed’s Wild is on my Kindle right now. And I loan Linda Ellerbee’s Take Big Bites to my foodie friends – it’s an inspiring, fun read (with a little travel on the side). When I became an “empty nester” a few years ago, I started a book club. Can life get any better than women connecting over a glass (or two) of wine and a good book? I think not…
